Oklahomans run in my family. They have since the opening of Oklahoma’s Cherokee  Strip when my great-granddad staked a claim on his 160 acres. My dad still lives there today.

I love small towns and the people who make them so fascinating. Besides a passion for reading since I was a little girl, I enjoy photography and someday hope to get a handle on black and white. When I’m not home reading, writing or out shooting landscapes, I’m usually at work in the family business.

Carson, Oklahoma, the small town where TO SCHOOL A COWBOY is set is very loosely based on my hometown . It’s a great little make-believe town with wonderful characters. In the  book the hero, Boone, is  on the school board. I served a very short stint on  our local school board several years ago. . . and that was more than enough. The heroine, Julia, is a teacher. I’ve never taught, but I’ve caught lots of tadpoles and I raise them now in my Koi-less pond. (Yeah, my Koi turned up their heels and died. I plan to try again.)

I was raised around horses and while I don’t claim to know much about them, and don’t own one , I know lots of people who do. And I enjoy their ownership—and knowledge— to the fullest.
