I blame Linda Howard's MACKENZIE'S MOUNTAIN, for changing my life. During a difficult period, a friend handed me a well-worn copy of this book, and while romance novels weren't anything new since I'd grown up reading my mother's Barbara Cartlands, I was able to escape, if only for a few hours. I wanted to make that kind of magic. I wanted to trade my sucky life for one where a happy ending was guaranteed. I wanted to see my name in print other than in the newspaper City Bits.
